The training on Democracy and the Electoral Process in Nigeria is a component of our Safeguarding the Integrity and Credibility of the Electoral Process in the Context of Covid-19 Pandemic programme funded by OSIWA.
The training was conducted between 17 August and November 21, 2020 via WhatsApp. These were over 200 young people of nine cohorts comprising of students, current NYSC and recently completed NYSC members resident in states with upcoming elections such as Edo, Ondo, Bayelsa, Borno, Cross River, Imo, Kogi, Lagos, Plateau, and Zamfara States.
The main topics covered were democracy, the role of youth, electoral processes, electoral stakeholders, electoral norms and standards, voting in safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, political party development and management, and electoral officials. There was also a session on The Art and Ethics of Writing to assist participants in writing essays to consolidate all they had learned.
